Troubleshooting
Most issues come down to one of five things: connection, consent, cache, quota, or a site that's simply healthy.
My decay queue is empty
The queue page tells you which case you're in:
- Search Console not connected yet - finish Step 2 in Settings.
- Connected, but no sync yet - run Step 3's Sync now and give it a few minutes on large sites.
- "No decaying content found" - this is often good news. Pages only enter the queue when they have at least four 28-day windows of history and meaningful click volume. Very new sites and low-traffic sites have nothing measurable to decay yet; RefreshRank re-checks after every daily sync as your history accumulates.
"Connection cancelled" or "Connection failed" after the Google screen
- Cancelled: you (or Google) stopped the consent flow. Click Connect Search Console and try again.
- Access blocked / denied by Google: sign in with the Google account that actually owns this site's Search Console property.
- Failed after consent: usually means no Search Console property matched this site. Verify the site in Search Console first (either property type works), then reconnect.
"Could not reach the RefreshRank service"
Your server could not reach api.refreshrank.com over HTTPS. Check that outbound
HTTPS isn't blocked by a firewall or security plugin, and try again in a minute - if it
persists, check our service status or write to
hello@refreshrank.com.
"Your license key was not accepted"
The key was mistyped or belongs to a deleted account. Re-paste it carefully (keys start with
RR-), or click Start free to create a fresh account for this
site.
"Too many requests" / rate limits
Three limits can produce this message: manual sync (once per hour per site), rewrite bursts (10 per 10 minutes), and free-signup attempts. Wait the indicated period and retry - nothing is lost.
"Your plan allows N site(s)" or a rewrite paywall
You've hit a plan limit: site count on activation, or the monthly rewrite quota (visible in Settings → Step 1). Upgrade via the pricing page or redeem an AppSumo code under Settings → Upgrade.
The queue looks stale
The queue caches for one hour. Saving your license, redeeming a code, or running a sync clears the cache immediately; otherwise it refreshes itself within the hour.
A rewrite finished but I closed the tab
The proposal isn't lost - click Rewrite on the same row again. Note that each requested job counts against your monthly quota, so it's cheapest to review proposals when they arrive.
